Become A Donor
Every year thousands of individuals (adults, children, and babies) are diagnosed with blood cancer, bone marrow failure, or other life threatening disease that can be cured with a bone marrow transplant. In order to have a successful transplant, a near perfect "match" is needed. Unfortunately, not everyone finds their match.
The only way to continue to save lives via bone marrow transplant is to continually add new donors to the nation registry. Anonymous donors are the only reason my children will survive.
There are many things to consider before joining the National Registry but, if you are toying with the idea, I would recommend you head over to the Be the Match website and review the awesome FAQ section they've put together!
If you have already done your research and have decided to join the registry, head over and request a test kit so you can send your sample in so you can be processed and added to the registry!
While Alex and I encourage everyone to consider joining Be the Match, we realize that not everyone is comfortable with joining or is not eligible due to various reason. We respect that completely! If you are unable to join the registry, you can still help the cause! On average, it is $100 to test and register an individual as a potential donor. Be the Match relies on donations to cover these costs. If you feel led to help, a monetary donation is a great way to get involved! Visit the ways to give portion of the Be the Match website to learn more! You can also visit the donation page for our Be the One Run team - we are currently fundraising for Be the Match and have set a goal of $2,000. Help us meet our fundraising goals before the race in September!
